Introductory course on Wheelchair basketball classification at New Delhi

Course on Wheelchair Basketball Classification for National ClassifiersWheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI)along with their partner, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), is happy to announce “Introduction course on Wheelchair basketball classification” at New Delhi on 2nd, 3rd and 4th December 2015.

Physical educators, Basketball players, coaches, Physiotherapists, medical doctors and people with knowledge of wheelchair basketball game are eligible to attend this course.

Mr. Toufic Allouche, International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF), Classification Instructor will conduct the course. Successful candidates will be certified as National Level classifiers, enabling them to work for WBFI in India. These National classifiers can apply for future courses organised by Asia-Oceania Zone, AOZ for Zone Level certification, with a possibility of progressing to International level at some future time. As India National Classifiers, they would be issued with certificates from IWBF acknowledging their status.

We wish all interested and deserving candidates to make use of this golden opportunity and register for this National level classifier course. Very limited seats are available. Preference will be given for the participants of our Introductory course on classification conducted in Sep.’15. .As you all are aware, India does not have even one qualified classifier for wheelchair basketball. WBFI is very keen to promote wheelchair basketball in a big way and take it to all States, National, Zone and International level. More qualified classifiers from India will be very useful to scale up the sport and the classifiers will also be able to pursue a career in WB classification at National and International level.

Indian government is also very keen in training more technically qualified persons for para sports.

The Championship is organized by the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) in partnership with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Government of India and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The opening ceremony will be held on December 2, 2015 at 11 am, starting with an Exhibition match by Children from Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust. Several dignitaries from Government, Corporates and NGOs will grace the opening and closing ceremonies as well as witness the championship proper.

Candidates have to make their own arrangements to reach the venue. Outstation candidates should book accommodation on their own.

All participants will receive certificates, T-shirt and course material.
