Dr. Ambedakar Institute of Technology for Handicapped (A.I.T.H.) was established in Kanpur, U.P., India, by Government of Uttar Pradesh, in 1997, under World Bank assisted project under Technical Education Program. A.I.T.H. is an autonomous institute imparting technical education to students through undergraduate (B.Tech.) and Diploma level courses. The entire facility is barrier free and committed to global vision of inclusive education, where normal & disabled study together. The Undergraduate level course is open for all where as the diploma level course is exclusively for handicapped. For accomplishment of this noble task, the institute is making consistent efforts with the help of innovative and committed faculty, technical and non-technical staff members and the students for growth and progress
At present we are imparting training at two stages : Diploma level under formal coures of study, and skill based short-term courses as non-formal courses.

From July 2004, we have also started B.Tech programmes under the AICTE approval in the 5 writing edge disciplines:

  1. It’s a very good initiative by you guys, these people are strong willed, all they need is a little support. There is an NGO associated with Jaago re (http://www.jaagore.com/project/atma-nirbhar-ek-challenge) which also works on the same line, the idea is to rehabilitate them econimically by giving them opportunity to work with dignity and earn a living for themselves.
