Late Mr.Richard Walsh, Switzerland. It was inaugurated by the District Disabled Rehabilitation officer, Govt.of Tamilnadu-India on 19.11.2009 in the presence Mrs.Praveena, Regional Director, Friends of India and blessed by Rev.Bro.P.Pancras SHJ, Provincial Superior congregation of Brothers of Sacred heart of Jesus and Rev.Br.I.Mathalai Muthu SHJ Director & Correspondent of the school.
We enrolled all the 85 blind and Low vision students in music school and Vocal instrumental training is given. Special music teachers Mr.Ashok “Bachelor of music” and Diploma in teaching the music” and Mr.O.Kumar, “Diploma in music” and Diploma in teaching music are appointed as the two music teachers.
The student are taught Vocal music as well as the instruments like keyboard, Violin, Guitar, Flute Tabala Drums, Pad and MUruthangam.
There are 50 music instruments available in the music school.
Mrs.Praveena, the Regional Director “Friends of India” expressed the strenuous efforts taken by the Friends of India. She also asked the students to fulfill the dream of Mr.Richard Walsh thorugh the training o f in music for the visually Disabled children.
The staff and students are grateful for Mr.Richard Walsh who funded the school in the name of her loving husband, we are thankful to all the office bearers and all the members of Friends of India.
Objectives:
- To empower visually challended 100 children of Amalarakkini School for the blind by giving adequate training to sharpen their inner skill of music.
- The music school will serve the children of surrounding “Dhalit” community who have no access to learn music.
- To train gifted musicians in the school to enable them to perform at professional level in the Richard Walsh music troop.
- To promote employment opportunity through Richard Walsh school of music.
We have two special trained music teachers to train the visually challenged.
- Mr.P.Kumar Diploma Music-Diploma in Teaching
- Mr.A.Ashok Bachelor o f music and Diploma in teaching music.
