Established in 2006, Sukriti Social Foundation is a cross-disability organisation based in Chennai (Tamil Nadu, South India). We address key disability issues with initiatives in the following areas – prevention, rehabilitation, employability and advocacy.

Prevention

Road Safety

Road accidents are a major, but preventable cause of disability, especially among youth. Sukriti conducts programmes on road safety in educational institutions to help youth form safe driving and road usage habits that will prevent disability caused by accidents.

Eye Camps

Disability due to loss of eyesight is another highly prevalent, but preventable form of disability. Keeping in line with Sukriti’s focus of prevention, we conduct monthly eye-camps in suburbs and rural areas.

Advocacy

Accessibility

As part of its advocacy efforts, Sukriti does its bit to both raise awareness about and facilitate greater access to public places for the physically challenged.

Rehabilitation

Mobility Aids

A mobility aid makes a dramatic difference to the world of a physically challenged individual. With the help of individual and institutional donors, we regularly donate various types of mobility aids to rehabilitate the disabled.

Employability

Improving the prospects of the disabled forms the focus of Sukriti in the realm of employment. In 2006-07, Sukriti networked with an HR consultant to whom it referred disabled individuals for opportunities that might match their profile. The experience thus far has provided Sukriti some learning regarding the employability of the disabled, with reference to the needs of the BPO industry. In the coming years, Sukriti will strive to facilitate direct placements.

Sukriti also undertakes other efforts to improve the employability of the disabled.
