St. Louis College is the first college for the deaf in India and second in Asia.

St. Louis College for the Deaf, Adyar, Chennai – 20 was founded in 1993 by Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel registered under Societies Registration act of 1860.

The primary aim of St. Louis College is to impart university education to the hearing impaired students from all over India.

St. Louis College is the first college for the deaf in India and second in Asia.  This college offers two courses namely B.Com degree in Tamil & English medium and B.C.A degree in English medium to the hearing challenged students.

St. Louis College is affiliated to the University of Madras.

The College which was started with 13 students in 1993 has now grown to the present strength of 120.  Students from all over India are studying in this college.  We have now students from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andrra Pradesh and Punjab.  There is unity in diversity, existing in our living institution.  We have men’s hostel in our college campus.  The women students are provided hostel accommodation in our FIHM sister’s convent, Adyar, Chennai- 20.  We follow the total communication method in our teaching.
