Udayam Rehabilitation Centre

The Apostolic Carmel sisters, well known in India for their educational institutions ,set foot in Palliagaram village of Madurandagam taluk in Kancheepuram Dt.in 1971. The sisters consciously chose this area as poverty, superstitions were then rampant in the region. The sisters planned and implemented many programmes systematically in the past years and have changed the face of the place.

Community Based Rehabilitation Services (CBR)

The CBR service is one of the main services we provided from the very big of our Rehabilitation service in Mathuranthagam and Archarapakkam Blocks. Services include – Home based training, Referral services, education and training people to take measures to prevent handicap occurrence and formation of SHG’s of PWD.

Network

We network with government and NGO’s so that persons with disability receive all the schemes available for their welfare- ID cards, Maintenance Grant, Scholarships, Aids and Appliances, Employment opportunities.

Special Schools

Children with Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy and Autism from the rural areas of Kancheepuram Dt. are admitted and trained. Residential facility is available at Palliagaram Special School.

Integrated Education

The children with Hearing and Visual Impairment are admitted in the local govt. schools, educated along with their normal peers.   Trained special educators are appointed to educate these children.

Residential Home

We provide residential facility to both Mentally Handicapped and Hearing Impaired children who are studying with us.

Early Intervention

Children below 5 years are given early stimulation and training daily. Parents are also taught to train there children and provide therapy.

Job Placement

We help people with physical and social disability to find suitable job. For this we motivate and work with factory owners, Institution and NGO’s etc.

All Donations are exempted under section 80(G) of Income Tax Act.
