World disability day rally on 3rd December 2010

Vidya Sagar (Formerly Spastics Society of India, Chennai) is an NGO working for Children and Young Adults with Neurological Impairment. In a year, we would reach to about 3000 disabled people across India through our various programmes.disabled-people

Getting people with disabilities counted in Census 2011 (to get an authentic data on disability) is the crucial need of the hour which would have a direct effect on the lives of about 70 million people with disabilities and their families of the country.

As part of the disability movement, we have been successful in getting the question on disability revised and are now working on training and sensitisation of enumerators and also awareness among disabled people.

We would like to celebrate the world disability day this year with this focus and thus initiate our awareness campaign on the importance of getting counted in the second phase of the enumeration of Census 2011 to be executed in February 2011.

We are conducting an inclusive rally on the World Disability Day from Labour statue to Gandhi Statue at the Marina Beach service lane. The population of the rally will be an inclusive one ranging from disabled people, activists, students and supporters of the Disability Movement.

Venue: Marina Service lane (Assembling at Labour Statue)

Date: 3rd December 2010

Time: 4 pm – 6 pm

We cordially invite you and all the staff / members / students of your esteemed Organisation / Institution to be a part of the rally.
