குழந்தைகள் பாராளுமன்றம் இன்று தமிழ்நாட்டில் சிறப்பாக செயல்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. தற்போது மாற்றத்திறன் குழந்தைகள் மிகுதியாக
பங்கேற்றுள்ளனர். இந்த கோடைக்கால கொண்டத்தில் மாற்றத்திறன் குழந்தைகளுக்கென சிறப்பு திட்டங்களுடன் கோடைக் கால கொண்டாட்டம் நடைபெற உள்ளன.
NEIGHBOURHOOD CHILDREN PARLIAMENT (NCP) Initiated by Keelottivakkam Grama Sangam (P 1666)
KANCHEEPURAM DISTRICT
Under CBM’s and Neighbourhood Community Network (NCN)’s (a organization promoting the concept of Children Parliament in South India), guidance and motivation we organized NCP at keel Ottivakkam village and neighbouring villages called. Seeys Mangalam, Vengudi, Rajamapet, Poosivakam, Bavashakipettai, Kitheripatti villages of Wallajabad block. Each village consists of 30 children. At present we have 450 children divided into various groups and sub groups. All these children are coming under the supervision of Keelottivakkam Grama Sangam.
As an extension of this programme we also started NCP at the following villages of Thirukazhukundram block of Kancheepuram district. Vadakadambadi – 90 children, Keerapakkam village—60 children, Lattur—60 children, Nerumbur—30 children. In every group children with disabilities are included and motivated to hold a responsible positions in the children parliament activities.
CBM supported and trained NCN on including Children with Disabilities in Child Parliament. This year CBM Germany is supporting a mega project to promote Inclusive Children’s Parliaments in States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
After CBM’s intervention the posts of Tamil Nadu and Pondichery state Minister for Disabilities and Health are held by two Children with disability. Leadership training is focused among these children too.
Training on disability and its issues among peer group members is giving good result.
After initiating the Children’s Parliament these are the developments.
- NCP was inaugurated on 26th Jan 2010 in our organization
- Socialization was seen among the Groups
- Acceptance of Children with Disabilities in the community
- Social Fear was eradicated among the children
- Well aware of child rights
- Leadership skills has been developed
- Changes in Attitude and Behaviour
- Created Environmental protection awareness
- Voluntary Participation in all community welfare activities
After the initiation various developments taken place among the Children and especially children with disabilities with regard to socialization, leadership, self esteem, voluntary participation, confidence and healthy thoughts.
Our major achievement of 2010- we are happy to inform you that with the intervention from this group, a library for NCP children on Sep 9th 2010 and Braille books such as Telephone directory, general knowledge, story books, proverbs etc, are made available in the library for the Children with disability.
Through Neighbourhood Children’s Parliament (NCN) they insisted the local government to construct drainage for the stagnant water in the living area by submitting an appeal to Heads of Grama sabha (Panchayat Leaders). Immediate action was taken and the drainage system was installed at each house within a month. Today the street looks very clean and hygienic. This made the community to turn and look into the activities of the Neighbourhood Children Parliament Programmes which is gaining good recognition and support from the community members as well.
