up with developmental delays and disabilities.
It was a sight to behold as a whopping 1,425 differently-abled children and 352 able-bodied children danced, sang and played as one in a fun fair, organised by Airtel as part of the Annual Day celebrations of the Shakthi Foundation, an NGO working for underprivileged and special kids.

The Ministry is presently implementing the ‘National Scholarship Scheme for Persons with Disabilities’ from the ‘National Fund for People with Disabilities’. However, for students with Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities, and Profound or Severe Hearing Impairment, the minimum education qualification is class-VIII pass and scholarships are awarded to them for pursuing general, technical, vocational or professional courses.
These objectives can be achieved only if educated and elite people take the responsibility and lead the path for these disabled abandoned children of the society.This social imbalance is the root cause for increasing criminalism, anti-social and anti-national activities where these less fortunate children of the society are made scapegoats and victims because of want of opportunity to come up in life, If these children are shown light they too can lead a decent living and become good citizens.
The appropriate Governments and the local authorities shall, within the limits of their economic capacity and development, provide for – (i) ramps in public buildings; (ii) adaptation of toilets for wheel chair users; (iii) braille symbols and auditory signals in elevators or lifts; and (iv) ramps in hospitals, primary health centres and other medical care and rehabilitation institutions.
Under the Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) steps have been taken to provide education to the autistic children. As per the Section 3 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, every child of the age of six to fourteen years shall have the right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school till completion of elementary education. SSA has adopted a zero rejection policy wherein efforts are made to provide education to all children with special needs.
