Free Coaching for the Students with Disabilities – Applications invited from coaching institutes for Empanelment

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has introduced a scheme to provide free coaching assistance to students with disabilities (SwDs) to appear in competitive examinations for Government jobs and admissions-tests for technical and professional courses. The scheme is being implemented through Empanelled Coaching Institutes. Applications from coaching institutes are invited for getting empanelled with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities to implement this scheme. The brief features of this scheme are shown below:-

Eligibility of Coaching Institutes for empanelment:

Reputed coaching institute/centres run by :

1. Central Govt./State Govt./UTs/PSUs and Autonomous Bodies there under.
2. Universities including Deemed Universities and Private Universities; &
3. Registered private institutions/NGOs.

The name of the institute/centre is to be recommended by the State Government concerned.

Examinations Covered :

1. Examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission or State Public Service Commissions, Staff Selection Commission, and Railway Recruitment Boards for Group ‘A’ & ‘B’ posts;
2. Examinations conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Nationalized Banks, and Government Insurance Companies and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for Officer level posts under them.
3. Entrance Examinations for admission to (a) Engineering (e.g. IIT-JEE), (b) Medical (e.g. NEET), (c) Professional courses like Management (e.g. CAT) and Law (e.g. CLAT), and (d) Any other such disciplines as this Department may decide from time to time.

Eligibility of Students

1. Having a disability certificate with not less than 40% disability.
2. Family Income : up to Rs. 6.00 lakh per annum.
3. Eligible to appear at the examination for which he/she desires to obtain coaching.

Coaching fee:

The coaching fee shall be decided on the basis of an ‘agreement’ with the coaching institute and shall be payable to the coaching institute by the Department.

Stipend/allowance payable to students :

Stipend :- Rs. 2500/- per month for local candidates and Rs. 5000/- p.m for outstation candidates.
Special Allowance for disability :- Rs. 2000/- p.m.
