HOW WE WERE CONCEPTUALISED
The rehabilitation centre had its beginnings in the year 1990 under the benefaction of Bharat Educational Society, a registered body. The centre is recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu vide
This centre is the special section of the school for normal children. It functions as a special school or in other words a day care centre. The institute presently has about 100 children comprising of Hearing Impaired and Mentally retarded children.
The institution is the brain child of our Correspondent Mrs. Jaya Chinnaswamy M.A., B.Ed., who is commitment personified and that of our President Thiru.R.S.Chinnaswamy B.A, B.L., who has been the strength behind her.
WE BELIEVE IN – “GUIDE AND GROW”
The centre commits itself in guiding its children to realize their potential and grow to reach greater heights with the confidence that is built in them with patience and understanding by their teachers and all connected with the centre. The children are supported to imbibe qualities like confidence, independence, self advocacy, expression and understanding, all towards equipping him in being able to handle his life better and thereby reducing his dependence on family or others.
THIS IS OUR ACADEMIC CURRICULUM
We have seen that many of the children who come to us are able to tackle academics too if it is offered to them in a quantity proportionate to their ability levels. Hence, to quench the thirst for knowledge for such children we train them on two levels that are optionally chosen by the parent based upon their personal aspirations in relation to their child. The two levels are
1. National Open School syllabus
2. Tamil Nadu State Board syllabus
HOW DO WE MONITOR THE CHILD’S PROGRESS
We conduct evaluation every quarter so as to assess the progress of your child and the effectiveness of the input given to them. Every child is evaluated in each area viz., speech, physiotherapy, academic and skill areas too. We believe that the progress in any child is a result of the joint effort of both the parents and the educational institution. Hence, parents are expected to compulsorily attend such reviews to know the progress of their wards. Such informal meetings help us to take into account suggestions of parents and heed to their requests to the extent possible in order to aid the child in his development.
WHAT ELSE WILL THE CHILD LEARN
Yoga and Craft are compulsory for all children and is within the school hours. We have seen that yoga has helped in the increase of attention span of such children.
The children are taught music and dance. The importance of play is irrevocable. Hence, children are given ample opportunities to discover and unravel their potential in sports.
Various vocational opportunities are offered to such abled children with a view to offer ample placement opportunities.
