I am introducing some mathematical percentages for assumption purpose and let us consider that on a scale of -100 to +100, we take -100 as depression, +100 as maniac and 0 as being the best and neutral. In medical terms all humans are expected to be at 0 as that is considered the best. But this is not possible all the time as humans are emotional and give vent to their feelings.

When people hear some good news they are happy and that shifts their balance in the positive side and when they hear some sad news they become unhappy and that shifts the balance in the negative side.

Now let us consider -20 to +20 to be the acceptable levels of deviations for normal humans in terms of bipolarity. The fact is that when humans are happy they tend to go beyond +20 and when sad they tend to go beyond -20.

This does not mean that the person is bipolar disordered. It is the ability to realize the deviation and return to within acceptable levels of deviation that makes a person regroup and attain the tag of a normal human being.

I am drawing a parallel here by taking the example of a dog. When someone calls a dog with affection, the dog wags its tail and comes near the person expecting affection. However if the same dog gets a rude response after nearing the person, the dog gets irritated and might even bite the person who called it. Does this mean that the dog is bipolar disordered or is the dog mad? Certainly not!

Every action of a person is directly proportional and is actually the reflection, mirror image, of the actions of the other person. Let us stop accusing bipolar affected personalities and start caring for them instead. Together we can make a positive difference to the society.
