Breaking the silence on TB and disabilities

Nandita Venkatesan works with The Economic Times and is a 2 time-intestinal TB survivor and patient-rights advocate. She lost over 90% of her hearing (profound deafness) due to a rare side-effect of a second-line TB drug. She recently gave a TEDx talk (watch this TEDx talk here: www.bit.ly/nanditav ) on her long ordeal and taking to Bharata Natyam dancing for healing. Nandita has kindly consented to deliver the August 2017 e-talk/ online lecture as part of the Shanti Devi Memorial Health Justice Lecture Series.
The lecture will be chaired by one of the children of late Shanti Devi Shankhdhar who continues to champion health and social causes: Prof Rama Kant, WHO Director General’s Awardee; former Chief Medical Superintendent of King George’s Medical University and Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals; 2012 President of Association of Surgeons of India; former Vice President of SAARC Surgeons and President of Lucknow College of Surgeons.
