Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Tuesday approved a quota for people with physical disabilities in the Lok Sabha Secretariat jobs. According to a statement from Meira Kumar’s office, three percent of vacancies in case of direct recruitment in the Lok Sabha Secretariat shall be reserved for “people with disabilities”.
Sebama Foundation runs a residential center called ‘Mercy Home’ for children with orthopedic, hearing and developmental disabilities in Dharmapuri District of Tamil Nadu, India. There are three schools on-site with a total of about 240 children.

A total of 2,057 participated in the camp held in Veppur union, of which assistance was distributed to 1,474 instantly; another 1,612 participated in the camp held at Veppanthatti union of which 1,316 were given assistance. The third camp held in Perambalur union witnessed the participation of 1,486 differently abled of which 1,346 were given assistance at once. He said of the 1,356 persons who attended today’s camp, assistance was provided to 1,072 beneficiaries.
