Cheran Region Christian Society for Disabled Children (CRCS) is a registered society under Section 10 of the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act of 1975 (Tamilnadu Act 27 of 1975) and the registration number is 69 of 1988.
This organization has been registered under section 6(1) (a) of FC(R) Act, 1976 and its registration number is 075850131 (Ref No.11/21022/67 (66)/2001-FCRA III dated 29.03.2001).
Donations given to this society is exempt under Sec-80 (G) of the Income Tax Act 1961 (C.No.127 (112) 02-03 / CIT-I / CBE dated 02.12.2002).
EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMME
HEARING IMPAIRED
Presently EI centre for Hearing Impaired is providing services to 14 hearing impaired children out of them 10 undergo school based training and 4 undergo home based training. Medium of instruction is English.
After completing pre-kg syllabus, the children are integrated into regular stream. In this year, 7 children have been admitted into CSI Matriculation School, Madukkarai in main stream education.
VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Fourteen visually impaired children are studying under early intervention programme. After completion of pre-kg syallabus, the children are integrated into regular stream. Two children have been admitted into TELC Middle School, Coimbatore this year.
Early intervention curriculum is based on Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). The IEP includes the following components.
- long term goals
- short term goals
- weekly and daily plans
Every child with low vision is daily practicing to use their remaining vision effectively.
SARVA SHIKSHA ABIYAN (SSA)
Cheran Region Christian Society for Disabled Children (CRCS) has been implementing Sarva Shiksha Abiyan (SSA) – IED in 20 blocks of Erode District since 2002.
SURVEYS ON DISABLED CHILDREN IN BLOCKS AND SCHOOLS:
A House to house and school survey was conducted to identify the disabled children in the 20 blocks. This survey covering children from 0-18 years revealed that 2837 children have identified.

THERAPY CENTERS
Disabled children who are in need of therapy were identified in remote villages. Parents of these children face financial constraints and commutation problems and hence are not able to take these children to the town to receive therapy. In order to help such children with therapy and training, CRCS started four therapy centres in Kalikanaickenpalayam, Madampatti, B.K. Pudur and Madukkarai. In these centres we make it a priority that the parents involve themselves in the rehabilitation of the child. Parental involvement has truly proved worthy in training these children.
