Christian Foundation for the Blind

Christian Foundation for the Blind – India is a Spiritual, Social, Charitable and non-profit Registered organisation offering its services to the Blind, Disabled and Destitute Men, Women and Children in India in meeting their Spiritual, Social, Educational and Rehabilitation needs.

Constrained by the Love of Christ for the salvation of Souls of the 10 million visually challenged people in India, Rev. P C Alfred George and Mrs. Nireekshana George  founded this Association in April 1974.

The Ministry of the Association is built on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ. This building of faith is being raised by the prayerful support of Christians in India and other countries.

God has laid burden on our hearts to save the 10 million blind people in India, who grope in both physical and spiritual darkness. The Association has been instrument in saving hundreds of blind people for Christ through its programme of “Gospel to the Blind and Gospel through the Blind.

C.F.B.I. BRAILLE PRESS

The projects is being the King-Pin of all the activities of the Association, began its services right from 1978 printing in Braille: Spiritual, Educational and Recreational matters and supplying to over 500 institutions and individuals covering 25,000 readers in India and Overseas countries. The press was established in 1978 at a time when blind people in India has hardly anything to read in their own languages, what they received was a few magazines in English from Overseas Countries.

C.F.B.I. TRAINING – CUM- REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR THE DISABLED WOMEN

This project is established in the year 1980 with a commitment to offer Training and Rehabilitation to the Blind / Disabled and Destitute women in our community. The inmates at the center are taught to weave plastic wire bags in different designs, to do tailoring and other Jobs.

C.F.B.I. COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION SERVICES TO THE HANDICAPPED

The services cover activities such as Orientation and Mobility, integrated Education, Education of the Public, Rehabilitation, Community Health, Placement and Resettlement of the Handicapped people in the community both in rural and urban areas in Chennai and other districts of Tamil Nadu.

HOME FOR THE BLIND WOMEN

This home established in 1990, with a view to care for the sick & aged blind women who cannot be rehabilitated for various reasons. These blind women have no parents or relatives to care for them in life. We look unto God for his provision to maintain these blind women & we request your prayerful support for the development of this home, which is much needed in our services to the blind & disabled people in India.

C.F.B.I. ADIP SCHEME

The organization has been distributing aids/appliances for the disabled since 1998 with regular financial assistance from Govt. of India. Every year 300 to 400 disabled students are benefited by these projects. These appliances included Tape recorders, Educational Kits, Mobility Sticks, Tricycles, and Wheel Chairs & Hearing Aids etc. The beneficiaries are identified from the other NGO’s, blind schools / deaf & dumb schools and other individuals.

C.F.B.I – AUDIO CASSETTE LIBRARY

This cassette library was established in the year 1996 with the help of well- wishers of the organization. The library is equipped with prerecorded lessons for High School & College Students to help them in their education. This project is a great blessing in the education of the visually handicapped students.
