Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel, well known for its services to the Differently Abled Community, conceptualized ‘Parallel Music Fest’ – A one-evening musical event in the year 2005 exclusively for the Differently Abled Musicians.
In the year 2010, its conceptualized a title ‘Distinguished Differently Abled Artiste’ and this was conferred to an outstanding differently abled musician selected by a panel of eminent music lovers. In the year 2013, Its conceptualized a platform ‘Parallel Music Competition’ to identify and motivate the music talents of the aspiring differently abled young music artistes.
Now organizing the second edition of the Parallel Music Competition. Encouraged by the tremendous response to the last year’s competition, this competition will encourage many more aspiring artistes among the differently-abled to participate and showcase their musical talents.
The competition is open for contestants in the age group 13-25 years. The contestants may be in school, college, employed, unemployed, drop-out or pursuing music privately.
TA up to a ceiling of Rs. 200/- will be given to each participant coming from out of Chennai. The categories will be as follows:-
- Classical Carnatic Vocal
- Classical Carnatic Instrumental
- Light Music Vocal
- Light Music Instrumental
There will be cash of Rs. 5,000/- for the winner and Rs. 2,500/- for the runner-up in each category. Participation certificate will be given to each participant.
The first audition round of the competition 2014 will be held from 9.30 AM onwards on Sunday, 30th November, 2014 at the Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar, Adyar, Chennai 600020.
The contestants will be adjudged by an eminent panel of musicians. The final round and the prize distribution ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2014 at the Music Academy Mini Hall as part of the Parallel Music Fest.
