Course : Human Rights Education – Disability Rights

Vidya Sagar (an organisation working with disabilities, www.vidyasagar.co.in) is offering a four month course, “Human Rights Education – Disability Rights”. This course will offer an overview of Human Rights and focus on disability rights.

uman Rights Course with special focus on Disability Rights
The course is open to individuals who are 18 years or above of age and want to learn about Disability Rights and understand it through the lens of Human Rights.

The need for this area of study is crucial as there is very little awareness amongst professionals, activists, development NGO’s and people with disabilities themselves.

In 2007 India ratified UNCRPD (United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities). We need to ensure that the tenets of this law are exercised in our country.

The curriculum design has evolved after intense discussions with activists from all fields. The faculties for this course are experts in their own areas and are being invited from other parts of the country.
The classes will be held on Friday evenings and full day Saturday, with English as the medium of instruction.

The fee for the entire course is Rs. 7000/- . Few scholarships are also being offered. The course will be inaugurated on 10th December 2014, International Human Rights Day and classes would commence on 12th December 2014.

The last date for applications is 22nd November. The candidates will be chosen based on careful consideration of the filled in application form and a personal interview. The application forms can be collected from the reception at Vidya Sagar or by email at dlu.south@gmail.com or director@vidyasagar.co.in.

Come forward and make the difference.
