Know Your Disability Rights Webinar Series – Javed Abidi Foundation

During this time of quarantine and social distancing, we at the Javed Abidi Foundation have been having a number of conversations around the need to continue to stay in community with each other and to continue to learn from each other. In this vein, we have organized the Know Your Rights Webinar Series! In partnership with Disability Rights India Foundation (DRIF) & Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI)
You are invited to participate in this series via Zoom. Each session will be organized from 7 – 8 pm IST on the dates specified below.
Please register either by responding to this email or by filling out the Google form given below and we will share a Zoom link for the meeting closer to the date.
Sign language interpreters will be available on each call. Should there be any other access needs, please get in touch to let us know and we will accommodate them.
Our current schedule of topics is as follows:
- April 11 – Taking Stock of Disability Rights Advocacy in India & Steps Ahead
- April 17 – Disability Perspective on Art & Poetry as tools of Advocacy
- April 24 – Data & Disability
- May 1 – The Role of Youth as Key Stakeholders
- May 8 – Political Participation & Accessible Elections.
- May 15 – The Meaning of Accessibility: Then and Now
- May 22 – Using Media & Social Media to do Effective Advocacy
- May 29 – Grassroots Perspective on Disability Rights.
We are hoping to continue planning these seminars into June 2020 and would love to hear from you regarding the topics you would like for us to discuss and/or any speakers that you may have in mind.
