Solidarity Foundation is a young foundation, seeking to provide support to sex workers and sexual minorities in southern India. Solidarity Foundation hopes to bridge the gap between where the resources are and where they are needed.
The Programme Officer will play a key role in shaping and influencing the young foundation. She/he will be involved in programme development; co-ordination of capacity and movement building initiatives, strategic workshops and consultations; resource development; maintaining and building partnerships particularly with other funders and human-rights activists
Role
Grantmaking
- Design grant making programmes in coordination with the team at SF.
- Respond to substantive queries from grant seekers; review initial concept notes; provide guidance during application process, including drafting of proper application and project design; evaluate applications and perform due diligence
- Prepare list of recommendations for Grant making Committee in coordination with the ED;
- Draft materials in preparation for Board presentation;
- Visit grant-seekers, grantees and human rights organizations, corporate contacts for networking, fundraising, and outreach purposes;
- In collaboration with the team, keep track of the implementation and reporting statuses of the various projects and suggest corrective actions in case of delays or deviations.
Fundraising
· Coordinate and write grants applications and detailed reports to funders, including identifying major new grants;
· Contribute to the reporting process to funders and donors;
It will also involve some general communication and outreach related work.
We accept applications from people from a variety of backgrounds. Knowledge of issues around sexuality is NOT necessary; however an openness and interest to work on issues around sexuality (sex work and sexual minorities) is a prerequisite. The Senior Programme Officer should have at least 6 years experience in human rights, development or a related field, with at least 2 years in a management role.
The candidate should have
- Experience of setting up systems and structures; and coordinating diverse teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
- Can work autonomously, effectively managing workload without continual guidance;
Advantage: Ability to speak any South Indian language
