Our methods do not merely train deaf children to grow up into people capable of earning their own living by means of handicrafts and manual skills rather than by intellectual attainments. Our modern methods are designed to develop the mental faculties of such children as are capable to full intellectual development and taking their rightful place alongside other normal persons in the learned professions and in other activities requiring a fairly high degree of intellectual attainment.
