Invitation to participate in the Rally “March to Equality” on the International Women’s Day – March 8th 2010
Tejas is a Self Advocacy Group of Disabled women, one of the projects of Disability Legislation Unit South, Vidya Sagar. Tejas has its focus on education and employment of women with disabilities, which in turn lead to the economic independence of Disabled women. We also aim at lobbying with the Government to frame appropriate polices and procedures, so that realization of rights and mainstreaming of Disabled Women is a reality. Another point of focus is to take up the issues of Disabled women in the women’s movement.
Aide et Action (AeA), an international development organization work for a world where dignity is ensured for all through education. Inclusive education is one of the major themes of the organization. AeA has partnered with Tejas to take up the issues of bringing equality in education.
Tejas and Aide et Action are jointly conducting the following events as part of the celebrations of World Women’s day:
- · Poster competition on women with disabilities “Equality in Education” to create awareness on the issues of disabled women as well as to bring in an understanding among the public on the equality and rights of disabled women. The prizes for the winners of the competition will be awarded on 08.03.2010.
- · Rally “March to Equality” from, Anna University main entrance on the Gandhi Madapam road to Vidya Sagar, No.1, Ranjit Road, Kotturpuram, Chennai -85 between 8.00 A.M to 9.30 A.M on 08.03.2010. Ms. Kanimozhi, Honourable Member of Parliament has consented to be the Chief Guest.
We cordially invite your organization to participate in the rally and show solidarity for the efforts towards ensuring equality of Disabled Women.
Please circulate it within your organization as well as other organizations, private firms and colleges and mobilize as much participation possible for the rally.
