Focus: Amputees and polio victims of the sub continent (primarily from India, Srilanka, Bangladesh, and other developing nations).

MUKTI has been involved in fitting custom made artificial limbs and hands to amputees in India. This is done by setting up camps in and around Chennai and Andhra Pradesh and in Nepal. First International camp using HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) technology was conducted at St. Lucia in West Indies, in Association with Rotary International.

MUKTI also gives training to persons in making and fabricating artificial limbs. With requests from international community, training camps were set up in Nepal, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Moscow, Guatemala, West Indies, Malawi, Ghana and Nigeria. At Bolivia, Mexico, and Malawi, Mukti helped to set up Artifici al Limb workshops. In 1994 Mukti started its service to polio victims by providing light weight Calipers made out of Polypropylene and PVC. First Caliper camp was conducted at Gwalior in 1997 in association with MALT, England.

Mukti Foot

Based on HDPE technology, Mukti started manufacturing most of the core components needed for the artificial limbs fabricated by its own team of people, at its center in Chennai from year 2000 onwards. This process fetched MUKTI benefits in two ways. We had the satisfaction of providing good quality components in our free artificial limbs and we were able to train physically and mentally challenged persons in making Mukti foot. The entire workforce of Mukti foot unit is made up of physically challenged persons and mentally challenged persons. While browsing the internet we came to know that International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics based in Copenhagen in Denmark conducts performance test on various components of artificial limbs and issue their performance certificate. We contacted Dr. J. Steen Jensen, Hon. Treasurer of the society with a request to test and evaluate Mukti foot. is tested and certified as matching International Quality Standard by International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
