National Seminar: Assistive Technology in Education and Sports

The Faculties of RKMVU in Coimbatore campus, FDMSE & GAPEY, have planned to organize a two-day National Seminar on “Assistive Technology in Education and Sports for Total inclusion of Persons with Disabilities” on 6th and 7th February 2015 in collaboration with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple disabilities(NIEPED) Chennai.

Objectives of the National Seminar

  • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the need for assistive technology for the inclusive society
  • To disseminate information relating to technological advancements in the field of special education, disability management and adapted physical education
  • To examine and encourage the use of appropriate gadgets to enhance the functional capabilities of the persons with disabilities.
  • To explore the best practices in the assessment and utilization of Assistive Devices for persons with disabilities.
  • To identify the strategies to promote quality services in special education and adapted physical education through technology.
  • To showcase the cutting edge technologies for the empowerment of the diverse learners.
  • To explore the avenues for conducting interdisciplinary research for evaluating the benefits of applying AT
  • To identify adaptations required that enable players with disabilities to participate in sports using AT Devices.
  • To enable athletes/ sports persons with disabilities to acquire knowledge of the availability of At devices suitable to their needs / competitive requirements
  • To identify the possibilities of utilizing appropriate AT devices to sharper the training skills of the persons the disabilities to effectively manage the competitive environment through their athletic performance.

Special Features : Assistive Technology Stalls

Stalls will be available to display various Assistive Devices for the persons with disabilities. Interested organization / individuals are invited to participate.

Resource Persons : Eminent speakers in the receptive areas of specialization have consented to address the delegates during the Seminar.

Target Participants :

General and special educators, paraprofessionals ( physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, low vision therapists), physical education professionals. / teachers, / students, yoga teachers, social workers, parents of children with disabilities and care takers.

Instruction for Paper Presentation
The delegates who wish to present papers in the Seminar are requested to send the abstracts and full papers on or before 30th Jan 2015 to the mail ID: office@vucbe.org, the hard compy of abstract and full paper should also reach University ion or before 30th Jan 2015.

 

Registration Fee:

Registration fee includes working lunch and seminar kit. The registration fee should be paid either by cash at GFDMSE office or by DD drawn in favour of Director, NIEPMD, payable at Chennai on or before 30th Jan 2015. The filled in registration from and DD should be sent to our contact address.

  • Registration fee for Professionals – Rs. 1000/-
  • Registration fee for students/ research scholars/ persons with disabilities – Rs 500/-
