National Workshop on Sports for Children with Special Needs

AIISH LogoNational Workshop on “Sports for Children with Special Needs” Organized by Department of Special Education, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore.

Special Olympics Bharat is a movement that uses sports as a catalyst to transform the lives of children and adults with intellectual disability. Special Olympics Bharat offers training and competition opportunities in 24 Olympic-style individual and team sports for persons with intellectual disabilities. They organize training and competitions at local, district, state, national and international levels which inculcates the quality of leadership, in children with intellectual disability.

There is a need to prepare these children for sports related activities; consequently training is required to equip the special educators about Special Olympics sports,rules & regulations.

Keeping this in mind a National Workshop has been planned titled “Sports for Children with Special Needs” from 27th to 29th May 2015, to enhance skills in teaching/ training children with intellectual disabilities. The workshop is open for special educators. Interested Special educators are invited to participate for the same. The workshop includes both theory and practical sessions. The resource persons are Ms. Rathna Shyam, Special Olympic Coach Bharath and Mr. Sundresh.S, Swimming Coach, Special Olympic Bharath.

You can register for the workshop /or depute staff members to participate in the workshop. The program will be held at Seminar Hall, Academic Block, AIISH. The last date to register for the program is 24th May 2015. Registration fees for each participant is Rs.300/– and the maximum number of participants is restricted to 75. Lunch and tea would be served to all participants on all the three days. Travel and accommodation has to be arranged by the participants.
