Indian Railway Budget 2015 will be unveiled by Railway minister, Shri, Suresh Prabhu.

Enabled.in will be bringing Railway Budget 2015 Highlights and key announcements for Persons with Disabilities.

Railway Budget 2015 for Persons with Disabilities

  • Special initiative to help differently-abled travellers purchase concessional e-tickets after one-time registration
  • Newly manufactured coaches will be Braille enabled & have wider entrances for differently abled passengers.
  • Increasing quota of lower berths for senior citizens; TTEs be instructed to help senior citizens, pregnant women and differently-abled persons in obtaining lower berths;
  • NID to develop ergonomically designed seats; introduction of train sets; Provision of Rs. 120 crore for Lifts and escalator which is 76% higher;
  • online booking of wheelchair on payment basis for senior citizens, patients and the differently-abled passengers through IRCTC on select stations.
  • Folding ladders would be made available in coaches for easy climbing and the middle bay of coaches will be reserved for women and senior citizens for reasons of safety.
