Ravindra Jain - The renowned blind music directorThe renowned music director who scored the music for such hit films like Chitchor, Saudagar and Ram Teri Ganga Maili was born blind. Noticing his flair for songs and music, Ravindra Jain ‘s parents sent him to music classes at a very early age. From then on, there was no looking back. Besides being a composer, Ravindra Jain is also a good singer.

Ravindra Jain a.k.a Ravinder Sharma is a well known music director, who has given some very popular musical scores in hindi films in the 1970s and early 1980s. He was born, blind, in Aligarh on 28th February in 1944. He is married to a poetess Divya Jain, and they have a son called Ayushman.

He is remembered for his hit compositions in films such as Chor Machaye Shor (1974), Chitchor (1976) and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978). He has also wrote the lyrics for many of his famous songs.

Ravindar Jain teamed up with the very talented South Indian singer Dr. K. J. Yesudas to give many hit songs such as ‘Oo goriya re’ (Naiyya), ‘Sunayna’ (Sunayna), and ‘Gori tera gaon’ (Chitchor). He composed for many movies under the Rajshri Productions films banner such as Nadiya Ke Paar, Naiyya, Chitchor and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se.

He was also given a golden opportunity when Raj Kapoor gave him the responsibility of composing for his film, Ram Teri Ganga Maili. The songs went on to become chart toppers. He has recently composed under the Rajshri banner again for the film, Vivah, and more recently for Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi.

Ravindra Jain has also composed for many TV serials, mainly under the banner of Sagar Films (Pvt. Ltd.). Ravindra Jain won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Ram Teri Ganga Maili in 1985.
