Sanjeevani health care trust for Autism

Sanjeevani is a Charity and a non profit organisation and therefore it has limited resources. Its main source of income is through donations, sponsorships and fund raising events.

Mission Statement
To promote / enhance psychosocial health and bring people with disabilities (especially autism and mental retardation) into mainstream by educational, health, work and social projects.

Principles
Sanjeevani has four guiding principles:

O options / choices
R relaxation / recreation
K care (Through health, education and welfare projects)

OBJECTIVES
To work in partnership with people, professionals, organisations and statutory bodies for the benefit of people with disability, autism and health related problems.
To provide Day, Residential and Therapeutic services.
To promote performing arts by encouraging participation.
To provide work / training opportunities.
To provide training opportunities to staff in government and voluntary sector in the area of autism and mental retardation.

Past Project
Breast Cancer Screening Project
This project has been accomplished in collaboration with Rotary Club – Coimbatore Central Trust. A Mammogram was jointly purchased in England and has been installed at the Kikani Diagnostic Centre, Coimbatore for community use. The screening is done free of charge for those who come from poor socio-economic background.

Day Care Centre
Sanjeevani Care Trust has obtained a building for Day Care Centre in the MVM Layout (Near Teacher’s Colony), Subramanyam Palayam Road, Coimbatore-29. The Centre will start functioning from November 2003 onwards. Application for admission to the Day Care Centre can be made from the month of October 2003 onwards.

Residential Care
We hope to provide residential care to people with autism and mental retardation in the very near future.

Support and Resources
The projects will be run with the support from Trustees, Board of Directors, Management Committee Members, Parent Group and Volunteers who come from different professional backgrounds such as Clinical Psychology, Education, Medicine, Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy. Suitably qualified & experienced staff will be appointed to run the day programmes. Physiotherapy, Performing Arts and people in Business / Industry.

Partnership / Collaboration
Sanjeevani Care Trust is pleased to inform that for its mission and objective various organizations and professionals in Coimbatore have shown willingness to participate and extend their helping hand. These are Rotary Club Coimbatore Central, Mrs. Dido Green, Guy’s Hospital, London and Learning Disability Services, Bradford District Care NHS Trust, England.
