Scholarships for Students with Disabilities 2018-2019 with a view to provide educational opportunities to students with disabilities, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities has been implementing the following scholarship schemes for their empowerment through education.
List of Scholarships for Students with Disabilities 2018-2019
- Pre-Matric Scholarship ( class IX and X ) – Open till 30-09-2018
- Post-Matric Scholarship ( Class XI to Master’s Degree or Diploma Level ) – Open till 31-10-2018
- Scholarship for Top Class Education ( Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in 240 notified of institutions of excellence ) – Open till 31-10-2018
- National Overseas Scholarships for pursuing ( Master’s degree and Doctorate degree in foreign universities abroad )
- National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities ( M.Phil/Ph.D )
- Free Coaching
Schemes : Pre-Matric Scholarship ( class IX and X )
No.of Scholar per year : 20000+renewal; 25000+ renewal in 2019-20
Annual Incoming ceiling(Parental /Guardian Income) : 250000 Lakh
Rate of Scholarships :
Monthly maintenance Allowance of Rs. 500 for day scholars and Rs.800 for hostellers. plus book grant and ad-hoc allowances like transport allowance, reader allowance etc
Book Grant : Rs. 1000/per annum

Scholarship for Top Class Education

National Overseas Scholarships for pursuing
( Master’s degree and Doctorate degree in foreign universities abroad )
No.of Scholar per year : 20
Annual Incoming ceiling(rs.) : 6.00 Lakh
Rate of Scholarships :
Pound(great Britain) 9,900 per annum for UK and US $15,400 for other countries, plus tuition fees, contingency allowance, cost of air passage etc.
How to Apply:
The proforma for submission of applications is given in the website of this Department i.e www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in.
Application may be submitted in the prescribed proformat to Under Secretary (Schlarships), Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Room No. 516, 5th Floor, Pt. Deendayal Antodaya Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, new Delhi – 110003 throughout the year.

National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities ( M.Phil/Ph.D )
No.of Scholar per year : 200
Annual Incoming ceiling(rs.) : No Income Ceiling
Rate of Scholarships :
Monthly Rs. 25,000/- for JRF(first two years) and Rs.28000/- for SRF(3rd year onwards upto complete duration of the course) and contingency grant, escort allowance/reader allowance, HRA etc
How to Apply:
Selection is done by the University Grants Commission. The Candidates may like to apply in the UGC’s website at ugc.ac.in as and when applications are invitedby UGC> No application is required to be sent to Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Free Coaching
No.of Scholar per year : 2000
Annual Incoming ceiling(rs.) : 6.00 lakh
Rate of Scholarships :
Coaching fee shall be payable to empanelled Institute by this Department. Stipend and Special Allowance for Disability @ Rs. 7000 per month for outstation candidates and Rs. 4500 per month for local candidates shall be payable.

All the above scholarships schemes are applicable to students with disabilities with more than 40% disability and having a disability certificate to this effect issued by a competent medical authority. Disability is as defined in Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
