The Social Service Centre, founded by Dr William David, was established on 20th July 1964. Starting with imparting first aid training to the 
weaker section of the community, the institution has gone on to provide several job oriented training and employment opportunities to the disabled and weaker sections of the community. The institution was officially registered under the Indian Societies Act XXI of 1860 on 16th August 1972. The institution has grown from strength to strength and the present executive board has the zeal to upgrade the level of education, quality of training and the standard of the accommodation provided to the beneficiaries..
The Founder, who became blind in an accident during his Medical Project at Kalka, near Simla lost his both eyes in 1966. His vision towards the disabled community is much thicker after his blindness and he started weaving, wire-knitting training for the visually handicapped persons and placed them in contract work with Railways, Revenue Board, Central Government Offices during the Period of 1972 to 1982.
He officially registered the Institution under Indian Societies Act XXI of 1860 on 16th August 1972 and the Regn. No. is 171/1972. After Registration he started Candle Making Training for Visually Impaired in 1976 and the same was inaugurated by the Director of Industries and Commerce, Govt. of Tamilnadu, Mr.V.Selvaraj, I.A.S and got allotment of wax quota for the Training.
Service:
The Founder has been continued his services and started Tailoring Unit for the Disabled in 1980-81. Two tailoring machines were contributed by State Social Welfare Board in the year 1980-81
The School is also upgraded to Middle School in course of the Year 1993-94 and 1995-96 and PIED Scheme is undertaken by the School (Pilot Scheme for Integrated Education for Disabled). The School is recognized by the Department of Education and Teaching aids is
granted upto Vth Std by the Government of Tamilnadu Education Department – vide copies of letters in Tamil and English are enclosed with some Photos showing the participation of Director of School Education, Director of Elementary Education (D.E.E.O’s) and Chief Education Officer (C.E.O) in the School Programme.
tarting with 108 Children in the year 1991, the strength had been increase year after year . The Education and boarding, lodging are at Free of Cost to all the students including Disabled. Every Year, 50 to 75 Students complete their 8th std successfully and joined in the neighboring school for Higher Education.
