Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme to provide affordable Health Insurance to the persons with disabilities (PwDs)
The Trust Fund for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Department of Empowerment of People with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, signed MoU with the New India Assurance Company Limited on providing affordable Health Insurance Scheme Swavlamban Health Insurance Scheme for the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
OBJECTIVE
Providing affordable Health Insurance to persons with blindness, low vision, leprosy-cured, hearing impairment, loco-motor Disability, mental Retardation and mental Illness.
To improve the general Health condition & quality of life of persons with disabilities.
Scheme And its Coverage
The scheme is designed to deliver comprehensive cover with following features
- Have a single premium across age band
- Coverage to the family of the Persons with Disabilities
Health Insurance cover up to Rs. 2,00,000 per annum as family floater - OPD cover for corrective therapy up to Rs. 10,000 per annum is available for the Persons with Disabilities. For Persons with Mental Retardation and Mental Illness OPD cover will be limited to rs. 3,000 per annum
- No exclusion of Pre-existing condition. However, corrective surgery for existing impairment can be done only with the prior consent of the Insurer / third Party Administrator (TPA).
- Pre & Post Hospitalization expenses, subject to limits.
- No Pre-Insurance Medical Tests.
- Rest of the terms and conditions of the scheme shall be governed by Standard group health insurance policy.
ABOUT SCHEME
- The scheme has been designed to deliver comprehensive cover to the beneficiary as well as his family (PwD, Spouse & up to two children) has a single premium across age band and can be availed by PwDs aged between 18 years and 65 years.
- Family annual income of less than Rs. 3,00,000 per annum.
- Ensures coverage of any pre-existing condition and a health Insurance cover up to Rs. 2, 00,000 per annum as family floater.
The scheme will be implemented through active participation of the National Institutes and Composite Regional Centres for Persons with Disabilities (CRC’s) under the DEPwD, MOSJ&E*.

In ground level no health insurance policy is impplemented for disable persons. All policies are in documents and in press notes not in reality. There is no website where we get the benefits of these policies. As they know we a mobility problems still they don’t thing to develop a website we we will get the benefits from our home comfort .

I have applied the Swavlamban Health Insurance , @ the month of june, bt still i have not received the insurance,
pls give the number of the contact person.
i have applied and remitted my share of 10% in July for my son for treatment of Schizopherenia. but not so far no positive response from New India Assurance Co. On enquiry I am told 90% premium from Govt of India not released ..

I dont know you aware not, under National trust act the national trust has promoted NIRAMAY HEALTH Insurance cover, you can go the Nationaltrust.govb.in website and know the details, by N. Krishnamorrthy Parent of Person with disabilities.
Under person with disabilities act 1995 CP Autism MD are included. UNder the proposed amendment pending possibility of inclusiion of these three disability mas disability under the new amenmd act
