Central Government Schemes list for persons with disabilities ( differently abled persons )
The Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF),Department of Telecom, Ministry of C&IT organized a meeting here today with Stakeholders to discuss Pilot Project Scheme for Access to ICTs and ICT Enabled Services for persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Rural India.
The persons affected with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, mental retardation and multiple disability who have crossed 18 years of age who are not in a position to take any decision, needs Guardians.
A Health Insurance Scheme for the welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. In order to enable and empower persons with disability to live as independently and as fully as possible, health services and their access to persons with disabilities assume a very significant role. In this context, the health insurance facility becomes important but presently such products are not easily available for persons with disabilities. In such a situation, a health insurance scheme “Niramaya” is conceived with the following objectives.
In computing the total income of an assessee who is resident in India, being an individual or a hindu undivided family, there shall be deduction, in accordance with and subject to the provisions of this section, an amount not exceeding twenty thousand rupees (Rs.20,000) paid or deposited by him in the previous year out of his income chargeable to tax, under any scheme framed in this behalf by the Life Insurance Corporation or the Unit Trust of India subject to the conditions specified in sub-section (2) and approved by the board in this behalf.
The Regional Employment Officer Special Employment Exchange for differently abled persons
The concession certificate can be issued by Medical Practitioner/Government Doctor/Heads of the Institutions for the Blind recognized by Ministry of Welfare/Govt. of India or Social Welfare Department of the concerned State Government. The copy of original certificate may be produced while collecting the ticket.
The Indian Airlines Corporation allows 50% concessional fare to Blind persons on single journey or single fare for round trip journey on all domestic flights. To avail this facility, the blind persons have to produce a photocopy of the Medical Certificate, issued by the competent authority, stating that he/she has permanently lost total vision in both eyes. The original should also be kept himself/herself for verification at the time of purchasing the concessional tickets.
STD/ISD PCOs shall be allotted to the educated unemployed, SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, handicapped person and war widows besides Charitable Institutions, Educational Institutions & Army establishments liberally as per the eligibility criteria.
The National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), in association with AccessAbility and BarrierBreak Technologies, recently announced the awardees of The NCPEDP – MphasiS Universal Design Awards 2011. The awards which received an overwhelming response in its introductory year (2010) will be given away on the eve of Independence Day i.e. 14th August.
To take steps so that members of the target groups of the Ministry, namely Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Senior Citizens & Victims of Substance Abuse can lead productive, safe and dignified lives, with all their basic needs being fulfilled, and where equal opportunities are ensured for the growth and development for SCs, OBCs and PwDs, and adequate support and opportunities are ensured for Senior citizens and victims of substance abuse.
