Loan for professional, educational, training courses to disabled persons
The Government of Karnataka has established 8 Res. Special Schools for children with visual or hearing impairment. Out of 8 Res. Special Schools 4 schools are for children with visually impaired and 4 schools are for children with hearing impairment.
A reservation quota of two sleeper class berths has been earmarked in all trains running on non-suburban sections for handicapped persons performing their journey on handicapped concessional ticket. The person accompanying the handicapped person as escort is also allotted the berth out of this quota.
Section-47(1) & 47(2), 48(c), 67(1) & 67(2) of PWD Act’1995 have following provisions to safeguard the rights of disabled Government employees and to ensure equal rights/participation.
Promote economic developmental activities for the benefit of persons with disabilities. Annual Income below Rs.60,000/- for urban areas and Rs.60,000/- for urban areas and Rs.55,000/-p.a. for rural areas. For Agricultural Activities : Loan upto Rs.5.00 Lakhs
It is clarified that the grant of Special Allowance for child care for women with disabilities is admissible for two years from the birth of the child so long as the woman employee does not have more than two surviving children.
Special benefits in cases of death and disability in service-payment of disability pension/family pension-recommendations of the Fifth Central Pay Commission. Death or disability due to natural causes not attributable to Government service Examples would be chronic ailments like heart and renal diseases, prolonged illness, accidents while not on duty, etc.
Under the scheme, assistance is given to NGOs up to the extent of 100 per cent for running training courses for teachers in the area of cerebral palsy and mental retardation. Both recurring and non-recurring items are considered for sanction.
Posting of Physically handicapped candidates The undersigned is directed to say that a suggestion has been made that physically handicapped candidates appointed under the Government should preferably be posted in their native places or at least in their native district. The matter has been examined carefully.
