The Indian Airlines Corporation allows 50% concessional fare to Blind persons on single journey or single fare for round trip journey on all domestic flights. To avail this facility, the blind persons have to produce a photocopy of the Medical Certificate, issued by the competent authority, stating that he/she has permanently lost total vision in both eyes. The original should also be kept himself/herself for verification at the time of purchasing the concessional tickets.

Railway concession for blind & mentally impaired persons extended to Rajdhani & Shatabdi

The Ministry of Railways has decided to extend facility of concession in rail fare to completely blind persons and mentally retarded persons in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. The concession for both the categories would be 25 per cent in 3rd AC and AC Chair Car in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains. Same concession will also be admissible to one escort accompanying such person.

Section 80 DD: Section 80 DD provides for a deduction in respect of the expenditure incurred by an individual or HUF resident in India on the medical treatment (including nursing) training and rehabilitation, etc., of handicapped dependants. For officiating the increased cost of such maintenance, the limit of the deduction has been raised to Rs. 41,000.
