IELC School for the blind and mentally challenged
One of the most memorable experiences from my visit was a speech given by a visually impaired alumnus of IELC. He had been invited as a guest speaker to inspire and encourage the students towards success.

நெல்லையில், ஒரு மணி நேரத்தில், 35 ஆயிரம் மரக்கன்றுகளை நடும் கின்னஸ் சாதனை முயற்சியில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் ஈடுபட்டனர்.திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் கூட்டமைப்பின் சார்பில், காலை 9 மணி முதல், 10 மணிக்குள், 35 ஆயிரம் மரக்கன்றுகளை நடும் கின்னஸ் சாதனை முயற்சி நேற்று மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.
The Interschool Talent Contest for differently able students.
Soroptimist International of Chennai has been conducting Interschool Oratorical Contests exclusively for students with Learning Disabilities as an annual feature since 2003. Students of some of the city’s special schools have been participating in the contest. The aim of the contest is to encourage students with Learning Disabilities to participate in such activity, since such opportunity is otherwise not available to them.

Kyun Ki – Radha Roy
RADHA ROY, a wheelchair user, the other singer to perform with AR Rahman at the Awards, greeted me with a shy smile. She was clearly overwhelmed by the fact that she was going to share the stage with Mr. Rahman and was breathless with excitement! As she sang a song from the movie “Kyun Ki” I was captivated by her beautiful voice. No wonder Mr. Rahman had a special word of praise for Radha. Here’s my tête-à-tête with her.

At the age of 9, I suffered with Glaucoma in left eye. Unfortunately surgery did not succeed and I lost my left vision. Subsequently at the age of 13, vision in my right eye also started deteriorating due to retinal detachment. By the time I was in standard 8, I lost vision in both eyes.
