Anbagam – Mentally retarded children home
Children admitted to ANBAGAM are tested by Psychologists and categorized into groups based on their mental development. There are two caregivers and one teacher for every ten children. The first stage of training focuses on essential personal skills such as brushing teeth, bathing, toileting and eating without assistance. Once past this stage, the children are taught to read, write and speak.
Udayam Rehabilitation Centre
The CBR service is one of the main services we provided from the very big of our Rehabilitation service in Mathuranthagam and Archarapakkam Blocks. Services include – Home based training, Referral services, education and training people to take measures to prevent handicap occurrence and formation of SHG’s of PWD.

A Ray of Hope for the Visually Impaired Students
The visually impaired students can academically be successful beyond any doubt if appropriate instructional strategies are adopted by the educational system and proper services are provided by the authorities. There is a need of full array of programmes and that too in consonance with their unique educational needs. The focus should be on fostering independence in them. All this is possible if due emphasis is laid on adequate curriculum development and by stressing on modification of behaviour and facilities.
Exam Facilities by CBSE to the differently abled
Certain relaxations are given to the differently abled, dyslexic and spastic students appearing for the exams. Students having learning disabilities can take breaks during the exam and those having dyslexia, blindness or autism can get a writer or Amanuensis for writing their exams. Sixty minute of extra time in each paper is given to these students. The students who have the problem of Dyscalculia are exempted from studying maths. Dyslexic/spastic/physically handicapped students have the option of studying one compulsory language as against two and any four subjects from the following:
Integrated Education for Disabled Children
Poverty and disability have a cause and effect relationship with each other, one thing leading to another. Poverty-disability combination results in a condition of “simultaneous deprivation”. So unless and until the people with special needs are provided with education, they would not be able to gain financial independence and the real kind of rehabilitation would not take place.
Educating the parents to educate the hearing impaired children
If the interaction between the parents and the child is proper and methodical, the hearing impaired child can start learning the vocabulary and develop language structures along with the development of communication skills easily,we may say rather spontaneously. These children have the same innate capacity to learn language as that of a hearing one. They shouldn’t be under estimated. But slow learning should be attributed to the fact that such children haven’t heard any language.
