Children admitted to ANBAGAM are tested by Psychologists and categorized into groups based on their mental development. There are two caregivers and one teacher for every ten children. The first stage of training focuses on essential personal skills such as brushing teeth, bathing, toileting and eating without assistance. Once past this stage, the children are taught to read, write and speak.

Certain relaxations are given to the differently abled, dyslexic and spastic students appearing for the exams. Students having learning disabilities can take breaks during the exam and those having dyslexia, blindness or autism can get a writer or Amanuensis for writing their exams. Sixty minute of extra time in each paper is given to these students. The students who have the problem of Dyscalculia are exempted from studying maths. Dyslexic/spastic/physically handicapped students have the option of studying one compulsory language as against two and any four subjects from the following:

If the interaction between the parents and the child is proper and methodical, the hearing impaired child can start learning the vocabulary and develop language structures along with the development of communication skills easily,we may say rather spontaneously. These children have the same innate capacity to learn language as that of a hearing one. They shouldn’t be under estimated. But slow learning should be attributed to the fact that such children haven’t heard any language.
