At the age of two Pradeep Raj got afflicted with polio. His both lower legs were affected. He started his formal education when he was admitted to a Special School ‘Amar Jyoti’. He used a wheelchair to move around when he was small but after sometimes he started using orthosis.
I had Polio in 1956 & I was almost normal up to 1997 when I had a freak accident involving my good leg i.e. the left one which resulted in fractures to the tibia & fibula. That was when I was 42 years. Now I find everything to be disabled unfriendly.
One wonders what to write when asked to write about one self. (At least I believe so!) I thought my life is so simple, so normal and so naïve like any other girl. Until I came to know suddenly that I am physically challenged.

An average figure worldwide is approximately 1 in 25,000 births.It results in abnormally short stature and is the most common cause of short stature with disproportionately short limbs.There is disorder of bone growth.
Kodakkal Shivaprasad is employed in Canara Bank as an Officer. He is happily married, well settled and blessed with two children named KS Nagaprasad & K S Cauvery. In spite of his own challenges he is providing philanthropic services and working with Shimoga Dist. Physically Handicapped Welfare Sangha [Regd] as it General Secretary.
Atul Prakash Purti, a fighter in real sense of the term, a ‘braveheart’ who is managing to live life to the fullest with self respect and loads of self esteem even in spite of his being a quadriplegic…He has swam against the flow and has managed to bounced back to life with his indomitable courage and a never exhausting positive attitude.
Frankly speaking I didn’t face any difficulty in adjustment because I don’t want to blame government or someone else, beacuse I think ki zindgi jo bhe hai jaise bhe hai apni hai, koi kaam kerna hai to kerna hi , kisi ko blame ker k nahi hoga, fir chahe khud ka bag carry kerna ho ya 4th floor tak seedhian chadhni ho collage me ya railway platform paar kerna ho, and I m happy ki maine kiya and kerta hu. bhale 10 mins k kaam ko do ghante me kiya.
Asif Iqbal is a person who can easily become a role model for many.He has never let his disability come in his way. He has met the former President of India (Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam) to discuss technology initiative which would benefit blind/ visually impaired community.
Raghavendra Anvekar was selected to be in the Indian team of swimmers for the 16th Asian Para Games-2010,that took at Guangzhou in China in December.Raghavendra has won 18 international medals and 43 gold medals at national-level competitions, besides three silver and one bronze medals he got at the IXth IWAS World Games for Physically Handicapped held at Bangalore last year.
She has achieved success amidst adversities. Her hard work has taken her to places. She being intelligent and ambitious, could do things which nobody had expected her to do. A fashion designer, a qualified HR and Marketing executive, a wife and a mother..she manages everything with great zest and enthusiasm. She is an adept singer, painter and a writer too She has anchored and organized fashion shows for the physically challenged. She believes in carry yourself well and put your effort to the right direction..She in her own words says, “I have too much respect for my challenged life”
