Born in a small village Eruvadi in the year 1944, his father deserted family at the age of one, his mother died at the age of 3, left with a big family of 15 members with very limited financial resources, he lost is vision due to optic nerve damage in an accident at the age of 13, lost 5 years, searching for treatment before final conclusion of total irreparable damage to both eyes and permanent loss of vision.
At the age of 9, I suffered with Glaucoma in left eye. Unfortunately surgery did not succeed and I lost my left vision. Subsequently at the age of 13, vision in my right eye also started deteriorating due to retinal detachment. By the time I was in standard 8, I lost vision in both eyes.
Intex Technologies has launched a mobile phone for visually impaired people. The phone has a large Braille keypad. Called Intex Vision, the device is a dual GSM SIM phone with a Talking Keypad, which speaks out the number in English as the user presses keys. This is helpful for people who do not understand Braille.
