AMS IPD Orthopaedic Centre, Chennai

The IPD Orthopaedic Center was inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1960 It takes care of the rehabilitation of physically and mentally handicapped and spastic children. It has therapy wards brace workshop , a residential hostel, vocational rehabilitation unit and mentally challenged children units. It has treated more than 50,000 children and adults mostly polio afflicted, by providing corrective surgery mobility aids and education. Three of our boys have taken part in Special Olympics held at Atlanta and won Gold medals in Hand Ball and one boy won a Copper medal held Dublin 2003.

Ecomwel Orthopaedic Center

Ecomwel Orthopaedic Centre is a registered Non Governmental and non profit organization established in the year 1986 to provide comprehensive health care and Community Based Programmes for the uplift of rural disabled, children of leprosy patients, rural poor and underprivileged. Ecomwel orthopaedic centre feels happy and honored for serving thousands of disabled in bringing them to the mainstream of society.

Annai Fathima Trust

Annai Fathima Child Welfare Centre, has worked out it’s best to provide quality and best education possible to the children. Mrs.Rani Krishnan did not stop the dreams of the children under her care, rather she encouraged them to think about their future and helped the children to achieve it. As everyone realizes the importance of education Mrs.Rani Krishnan also gave more importance for the children’s education by collecting funds from many people to educate a single child. It’s a known fact that parents do feel difficult to educate their own children but Mrs.Rani Krishnan with the help from many people molded many abandoned children into Graduates.

State Nodal Agency

State Nodal Agency Centre (SNAC) and State Nodal Agency Partner (SNAP) are the institutional arrangements of the National Trust at the State/UT and Divisional levels to support and take forward its activities. One SNAC in every State/UT and one SNAP for around 10 districts in every State/UT are appointed from amongst the reputed and well established NGOs registered with the National Trust.

Remote Area Funding Scheme

As such a Remote Area Funding Scheme was conceived to cover these remote districts for providing services to persons with such disabilities by providing financial incentives to set up new organizations registered with the National Trust.

National Trust Annual Awards

It is in the light of this paradigm shift and the consequent need to recognize excellence, to encourage voluntarism and to promote best practices in the disability sector that the National Trust Annual Awards are instituted.

Saraswathi Kendra provides those supplements necessary for the all-round development of the child. Any child whose life is disturbed by problems that interfere with school performance and inter-personal relationships can benefit from this programme.

Bala Vihar – In the service of mentally challenged persons

Since 1953, we at Bala Vihar, Chennai have worked to change that reality. We offer services like Physiotherapy, Yoga therapy, as well as vocational training to help rehabilitate the mentally challenged and integrate them, as far as possible, into mainstream society.

These objectives can be achieved only if educated and elite people take the responsibility and lead the path for these disabled abandoned children of the society.This social imbalance is the root cause for increasing criminalism, anti-social and anti-national activities where these less fortunate children of the society are made scapegoats and victims because of want of opportunity to come up in life, If these children are shown light they too can lead a decent living and become good citizens.
