S.G.S.Y. is a credit-cum-subsidy program in which credit is critical component and subsidy is a minor segment aiming to bring people above the poverty line. Group activities and vulnerable groups (PWDs, SC/ST & Women) are the focus area of SGSY. Beneficiaries are called SWAROZGARIES. Identified key activities of block are being supported and quantum of loan depends on nature of project.
To channelise educated unemployed youth into self- employment activities, SEEUY (1983) was launched which was redesignated as PMRY (1993). Individuals and groups within the individual admissibility, may apply for loan.
The scheme IEDC was meant to cover all classes in the school education stage. With the coverage of children with special needs in the elementary stage under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the scheme of IEDC was replaced by IEDSS under which children with disability in the secondary stage (classes IX to XII) are covered.

Village Industries of KVIC scheme having 95 types of industries are grouped in seven major groups such as Mineral Based Industry, Agro-Based and Food Industry, Polymer and Chemical Based Industry, Forest Based Industry, Engineering and Non-conventional Energy, Textile Industry (Excluding Khadi) and Service Industry. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Tuesday approved a quota for people with physical disabilities in the Lok Sabha Secretariat jobs. According to a statement from Meira Kumar’s office, three percent of vacancies in case of direct recruitment in the Lok Sabha Secretariat shall be reserved for “people with disabilities”.
