Soroptimist International of Chennai has been conducting Interschool Oratorical Contests exclusively for students with Learning Disabilities as an annual feature since 2003. Students of some of the city’s special schools have been participating in the contest. The aim of the contest is to encourage students with Learning Disabilities to participate in such activity, since such opportunity is otherwise not available to them.The overwhelming response of the participating schools and their requests have encouraged us to widen the scope for these students to exhibit their talent. In the year 2005 we had included an Art Contest, under the broader purview of Interschool Talent Contest. Since 2006 we have included Music and Dramatics as avenues of contest. We plan to include many such avenues in the future so that the students may get to exhibit their talent.
The participants will be students of special schools like Ananya Learning Center, Alpha to Omega Learning Center, Sankalp- The Open School, Saraswathi Kendra Learning Center, Diksha, SIET Dyslexia Center, Prayatna and the remedial center of Lady Andal School.
