List of Schemes for Persons with Disabilities from Government of India / State Government and Private Organization with accessibility features
The Scheme of Scholarship is operated by union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment through State Governments to disabled persons from the 9th class
onwards for general technical or professional education. The scholarship is awarded all kinds of handicapped students subject to their obtaining of at least 40% marks at the last annual examination.
Special devices or gadgets for handicapped person may be like auto transmission, grip assembly, accelerator pedals, hand control, etc. fitted in the car depending upon whether the disability is in right/left arm or in right/left leg or in both legs in combination thereof.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) ensures that every child with special needs, irrespective of the kind, category and degree of disability, is provided meaningful and quality education. Hence, SSA has adopted a zero rejection policy. This means that no child having special needs should be deprived of the right to education and taught in an environment, which is best, suited to his/her learning needs.

Locomotor disability is defined as a persons inability to execute distinctive activities associated with moving both himself and objects, from place to place and such inability resulting from affliction of musculoskeletal and/or nervous system.
The assessing physician should be alert to the fact that patients who come for disability claims are likely to exaggerate their symptoms. In case of any doubt patients should be referred for detailed physiological evaluation.
The evaluation of a Short Statured person should be considered only when it is of disproportionate variety and is accompanied by an underlying pathological conditions, e.g., Achondroplasia,Chandrodysplasia Punctata, spondyloepiphysical dysplasia,mucopoly and acchrydosis, etc.
Permanent physical impairment due to neurological deficit in addition to spinal impairment should be added by combining formula. The local effects of the lesions of the spine can be conventionally divided into traumatic and non-traumatic.
The measurement of loss of function in lower extremity is divided into two components: Mobility and standing components.A fracture of right hip joint bones may affect range of motion of the hip joint.
The estimation and measurement should be made when the clinical condition has reached the stage of maximum improvement from the medical treatment. Normally the time period is to be decided by the medical doctor who is evaluating the case for issuing the PPI Certificate as per standard format of the certificate
