Workshop on Audio Description
Ability Foundation invites participation from film makers and aspiring film makers for a two-day landmark workshop on Audio Description, to be held on September 6 & 7, 2019. This is a first of its kind learning experience to be held in Chennai which will be conducted by an internationally known authority in the teaching of Audio Description.
Why
Audio description is today, changing the cinema-viewing experience all round the world. This is a step ahead towards accessible cinema for all persons including persons with disabilities. Where people who are blind are concerned, have you ever wondered how they enjoy movies? Language and dialogues form a very important part of this comprehension, of course. However, all the other things happening on screen like the actions, the drama, the location and the scenery – how do blind people enjoy these too? Audio Description makes this possible. It increases the movie enjoyment for blind or visually impaired persons.
Through Audio Description, the visual images are made accessible and enjoyable for people who are blind or have low vision.
Resource Persons
The Audio Description workshop will be conducted by Dr Joel Snyder, President of Audio Description Associates, and Director of the audio description project of American Council of the Blind, who has trained describers in over 60 countries.
This workshop will provide participants with a hands-on opportunity to work on audio description.
