Divyaang Myithri Sports Academy
Divyaang Myithri Sports Academy is a non-profit organization formed in May 2016 with the pious intention of uplifting para-sports in India. DMSA devoted to work to encourage differently abled persons to take-up sports and help the qualified para-athletes to achieve their goals by providing specialized training, infrastructure, and equipment and assist them financially to participate in national and international events.
DMSA currently operating out of Bengaluru and aim at providing the best possible platform for para- athletes from all over the country. Team DMSA consists entirely of differently-abled people who are doing outstanding in various fields of our society. All the members inspite of various hurdles laid in their pathway are living shoulder to shoulder with the abled bodied people and doing remarkable in fields like dentistry, engineering, management, banking, photography and what not!
DMSA Brand Ambassador – Dr. Rajalakshmi SJ is a gold medalist in MDS dentistry. She is also Miss Wheelchair India 2014, Miss Popularity Miss wheelchair World 2017, Ambassador of Miss Wheelchair World in India, 3 National awards winner and Proprietor and Chairpersonof SJ Foundation and SJ Dental Square which is a multi speciality dental clinic in Bengaluru.
DMSA Mentor – Er. Ashwin Karthik is India’s first engineer with Cerebral Palsy and has won the National Award from former president Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.
Over the past DMSA has achieved several remarkable milestones.
- DMSA organized national wheelchair cricket tournament in association with UP, Haryana and Punjab wheelchair cricket associations for first time in India comprising 12 teams from 4 different zones.
- DMSA also organized South Wheelchair Criket League in Bangalore from 02nd to 04th Feb, 2018 in which Teams – Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Kanyakumari participated.
- DMSA continuously takes part in various events like wheelchair marathons, wheelchair basketball tournaments, wheelchair tennis tournaments held for the people with disability.
DMSA players are doing well in various sports not just at the national but also at international levels representing the country.
In regards to DMSA vision and mission, to organize the first ever of its kind wheelchair cricket coaching camp, which is being organised in Mysore, Karnataka from 16-19 November, 2018. This camp would see a participation of more than 50 para players from various parts of South India. These players would be coached and mentored by various experienced coaches of our academy.
They will also be provided with free of cost food and lodging facility while they are being trained here in this camp. Our coaches would be giving them rigorous training in various techniques of playing the sport of wheelchair cricket ranging from wheelchair drilling exercises to batting, bowling and fielding techniques to enhance their skills.
